A typical invitation has the invitation itself, and a small, pre-addressed and stamped envelope with RSVP card. You can also include a card with directions to the wedding/ reception venues. Some people, after getting engaged, send out an engagement announcement, and then a save the date, and then the invitation. You can also purchase "thank you " cards that match your invitations. |

Wedding stationery was invented by printers to make you think you need a bunch of their products, including but not limited to: Engagement announcements Thank you cards for the bridal shower and envelopes with return address Monogrammed stationery with sheets of paper and return address envelopes used to write notes, in general Save the date cards. Wedding invitations: the invitation, the inner envelope, the rsvp with self addressed envelopes, the inner envelope to hold the invitation contents, directions, reception cards, hotel information cards. Place cards for the reception tables. Cards with numbers on them for the reception tables. Thank you notes for the wedding gift and envelopes with return address. In all, it is just a way to brainwash you into thinking you need to order all this stuff in matching sets so that the printers can laugh all the way to the bank. Basically. |

First you'll send save-the-date cards, so your first stationery order will be for those and their envelopes. When you have the details confirmed, your main stationery order will include: - the invitations and envelopes - reply cards and envelopes (optional—traditionally guests write their own replies) - reception card (if the reception is at a separate address) - map card (optional) - hotels card (optional) - your thank-you cards and envelopes (optional—traditionally these are on your own stationery, not part of the invitation set) Always hand-address envelopes etc. _ |
