Can you meet new people at wedding receptions?
I'm 18 & my cousin who's 27 is getting married D & I was wondering, is it possible to make new friends at a wedding? Or is just one of those awkward parties where people stay with their own " kind" ? lol

So I am getting married in about 6 months and I do not want a typical reception. I am super shy and hate being in the spot light, i really really hate it. I know its unavoidable since its my wedding but oh well.. anyway. My fiance was in a skiing accident and is now in a wheel chair. He is unable to dance and we don't want dancing at our wedding, my father passed away a few years ago also so we wont be having a father daughter dance or anything like that. I feel super awkward about being toasted too haha I basically just want a nice outdoor ceremony overlooking the beach in maine and then a dinner reception in a nice restaurant, not like a banquet hall or anything. Think thats weird? and what do u think I could do to make it fun? I def do not want dancing but wouldnt be opposed to some soft music playing maybe a live piano guy or something playing billy joel style music.. If i do just a dinner at a restaurant with out the whole works of all the extra traditions do u think I should word it a bit different on the invite than what is typically done? Im so super shy and have social anxiety im all worried about awkward responses from people when they arrive about the lack of traditional dancing toasts etc etc suggestions please thanks

I'm getting married in 16 days but i haven't worked out a reception schedule yet. the wedding is at 3 so the reception will start at 5. snacks served while we're getting our photos taken . I am having a wedding reception. One family wants an open bar, the other wants a cash bar?
My Dad insists on his family not having to pay for booze at my wedding reception. My soon to be father in law insists on a cash bar since his family has alcoholism in it. Can anyone think of a way to have one family paying and the other open, in a discreet manner?

hi my fiancee and i are planning to get married in november 2013 and are starting to budget. we are looking at marrying in disneyland with family and very close friends and spending about 3000$ on the ceremony and about 2500$ for our honeymoon. is it alright if we wait a month or two after our wedding to have a reception? nothing to big just a small reception with friends from home, we live in new jersey so they can't really come down to florida for the ceremony but if we have a small one with like food, dancing, toasts and all that would it be okay?

Okay, I need help. I am getting married at Sierra Cross Park in Ventura, Ca but I DON'T want my reception there. This is what I am looking for A place to hold my wedding reception perferably in a large room of a resturant, back padio, or somewhere thats cheap where I can have a my own catering and dj. where I can have a DJ, alcohol, under $2500 for a 2 4 hr reception, with about 200 people in attendance.
