How much should I charge to do wedding photography?
I've done a couple shoots for various people and was, was asked to do a wedding in September for a lady I used to work with daughter and didn't give her a price back then, because I didn't know what to charge. In the past I'd charge $20 hr for stuff and that's pretty cheap compared to the hours i put into it. I'm also a graphic designer and have been practicing for the past 5 years. I'm good at what I do and I take great photographs. I decided to make a contract of all my fees and so that I wouldn't get screwed over again as I have been taken advantage of by my " friends" . I have a business, I'm here to make money. So my senior portraits are $200 $300 includes 2 3 hours of my time, all images on dvd, release for prints, image correction, etc. My family portraits are alittle more because hence there are more people involved, but those are around $250 $350, with 3 4 hours, and the rest included. Weddings, $950, 7 hrs of coverage, images on dvd, color correction, 2 8x10s. And a $200 non refundable retainer, to hold the event, and that amount comes off the total package. I don't know if location has anything to do with it, but I come from a small town in Kansas, and I think $950 is pretty reasonable for a wedding shoot, which would last ALL day. Excluding mileage, luging around equipment, etc. Any ideas? Thanks.Checked out some photographers around here, and a man in Garden City, KS weddings start out at $995.00, while another one in Liberal, KS starts out at $2,000 and some includes mileage and some doesn't. I think for what i'm offering its pretty darn reasonable. I'm also including prints that I didn't mention up there and not charging them $1.00 per photo on the dvd, which there are usually over 300 photos...
What are some great (inexpensive or free) locations for indoor wedding photography in Lansing, MI?
I am photographing a wedding on saturday near downtown Lansing, MI.The couple would like to go to a separate location for photos, I have ideas but I need some ideas for indoor locations in case it rains. I would like something other then a church and something reletively inexpensive.

How much for student wedding photography?
To save on cost we have toyed with the idea of hiring a local student photographer or graduate photographer from the local University or local photography school.We are only interested in the digitals, no prints, and no albums. We don't need them to be edited as I am very good with photo editing myself and I have taken into account the time it will take to do this too which I am prepared to do.Coverage would be from 2 30pm 9 30pm which will cover from just before the ceremony 3pm through to after all for reception formalities.We will be interviewing perspective clients and we will require them to show a portfolio of their work.Considering this, how much do you think is a reasonable price to pay a student photographer? We were thinking that $500 would be enough but we really have no clue. Is this too much or too little? Should we also offer to pay for dinner at our reception for them? Are people expected to do that for professional photographers? We haven't finalised our decision yet whether to go ahead with this idea or not. We are weighing up our options between this and between a professional photographer which would be $1800 for all day coverage 500 1000 photos , limited digitals on CD only, no prints, no album, and only a few edited.Hi peanut I understand your point about the editing.
