What's the point of wedding party favors?
I'm just curious. A lot of times they are chocolate and get eaten quickly. Sometime they are candles and I don't know what to do with them. Burn them and then throw out the holder?The prices for these things seem kinda high sometimes, so I'm wondering... what are their purpose exactly? To just give a little gift? To remind people later of the wedding?When did this tradition start? How do you decide between chocolate, candles, soaps, or whatever else is out there? Pure personal preference or does your selection mean something?Thanks

We like the floating lanterns, which will be done with clear jars.Suggestions?Yeah the lanterns are decoration, and the floating candles I just recently starting thinking about is centerpieces. I'm having an outdoor summer wedding, and for the party favors, I'm getting tiny gift boxes to fill with candy. I don't think chocolate will work, because it will melt. Any other ideas for treats to fill them with?
Champagne flute wedding party favors, should I do it or not?
I'm having a hard time trying to decide the type of wedding favors to choose for my wedding. I've seen people use champagne flutes which I find cute but I want to know is it kind of cheesy these days. I mean my mom used champagne flutes as her wedding party favor and she got married in 1985, I'm just wondering if this idea is sort of old fashion now. I want something that my guest can really use or something they can keep as a keepsake. I don't want to give them anything that they'll probably just throw away eventually. Any ideas and definitely any unique ideas? I sort of want to think outside of the box.

I am trying to make a small decorative box for my wedding that matches my wedding color scheme. I checked out Michaels, Target and Martha Stewart and all the pre designed boxes they sell are white or don't match my color scheme. I don't want to paint or stamp a design on a plain white box. So I was thinking about making my own boxes out of designer mat board.Does anyone know where I can find a free box template?

When should we give our wedding party favours?
We are being married in a small chapel with mostly family and a few friends. 30 people. No reception, after ward we are all going to a very nice restaurant, our cost of course. The wedding cake will be served at our home, which is about 30 miles from the chapel and restaurant but where most of our guests reside, should favours be put on the tables during dinner or given at our home. We are in our 50's and this will be a second marriage for both of us, and we have decided to go with a more casual theme. No formal reception, just a good time with family and close friends. Wedding party favor - champagne glasses?
my sister is getting married at new years eve and wants to give a champagne glass with their names and the date etched onto it as the party favor. We were thinking it'd be fun if everyone drank the champagne out of it as well. However, as a guest, would you take the champagne glass home after having drank out of it? Or would you be like ew its dirty, don't want it?
