A wedding jewelry question: is mother-of-pearl real pearl?
My mother told me not to wear anything made of pearl for my wedding because it is bad luck. Supposedly they symbolize tears. So I took care to buy jewelry made of mother of pearl for my bridesmaids and myself. I thought all along that mother of pearl wasn't real or true pearl, or did I assume wrong?
Where can I buy inexpensive wedding jewelry?
I want some rhinestones maybe, but I don't want to spend a fortune. I have looked all over the net and can't find anything I like in the price range I want. I want to spend abuot $30 on necklace, maybe $15 on bracelet and earrings. I am also looking for a nice hairband for the wedding too.
Is sterling silver an okay choice in wedding jewelry?
I've found a lot of designs in sterling silver that I love, but I'm unsure about the quality. I don't wear jewelry much, so I'm a newbie to this. I want my engagement ring and wedding band to be high quality and be the same jewelry I die in dark, I know ...would sterling silver be able to pull this off? I've heard that oxygen will darken the ring over time, but you can polish it back to a shine.....is this accurate? And does this polishing simply clean the ring or is it doing away with a layer? I don't want to have less ring over time, which is my concern with white gold. Anything else I would need to take into consideration? Pros Cons?I only like white metals, and I love the idea of platinum, but it's priced a little high. And palladium would be a great alternative, but I'm having trouble finding palladium settings I like, there doesn't seem to be much out there. Would really appreciate any help with any of the above.

So I bought a necklace earring set for my wedding. Its beautiful, but the clasp for the necklace is odd. I'm now thinking about designing all of my wedding jewelry around these buttons. The problem is that I don't know what to do with them. Wedding Jewelry: Diamond Earrings?
So I have these beautiful heirloom diamond earrings that have been in my family for several generations. They are absolutely gorgeous, and I know that they will be the " something old" on my wedding day. I was wondering what your thoughts were on wearing the earrings before that day. Should the earrings, like the dress, be something that I only wear for that one special day, or is it a good idea to break them out for special occasions? I have just started looking at jewelry to wear with my dress, and I have plenty of time to look. What do you guys think of wearing some type of bright colored jewelry? My dress is very simple, a light ivory strapless sheath with a trumpet bottom, there is a very small amount of bead work on it. I'm stuck on deciding the jewelry I want to use for my wedding. I already have all of my jewelry its all pearls Tiara, necklace s , earrings, and bracelet . But, I was considering using CZ's. So I bought CZ sets for my bridesmaid's and can't find any decent CZ set for myself. So I'm thinking of go with pearls and getting my girls pearl sets. But, if I do that I'm stuck with 2 CZ sets.Should I just give them the CZ sets anyway, along with the pearl sets for the big day?The pearl sets are $15 a piece and come with a bracelet, necklace and a set of earrings, and are set in sterling silver.The CZ sets are round solitaire CZ necklaces, simple round cut CZ earrings and the bracelet is round cut CZs the start out around 1.5mm 2mm near the clasp and get gradually bigger near the center with the biggest stone being approx. 6.5mm 7mm. Set in sterling silver.The pearls will the cheaper... They're good quality sets.
