Wedding Dj won't give me my money back?
I hired a Dj I found on a pittsburgh web site for my wedding. We had 2 meetings several phone calls and emails with the list of the wedding pary names for the entrance and the flow of the ceremony etc. SInce the first meeting I told him I wanted to do a father daughter dance where the song started off with I loved her first, by heatland...and then the dj would interupt our slow song and play the twist, YMCA, chicken dance, and then back to the end of slow song. At the second meeting the DJ didn't have my email I sent to him with corrections in it to ceremeony flow and attendants so we ended up reviewing everything again with my fiancee and talked about father daughter dance again. I gave him songs he could play to interupt the slow song and he told me he would play with them and call me with what it would sound like soon. He asked me to send him a list of songs we wanted to be played. At this meeting I gave him $250 toward the $650 dj service...I have emails showing he wanted $650 for 5 hours of service and was requesting $50 or $75 as a deposit. We did not sign I contract bad, I know . He took the money cashed the check and I never heard from him on song? I emailed him with song list he requested and asked about father daughter dance and he didn't respond. A week later called him and asked about dance and he said he wasn't she where we left things? I explained he was suppose to get back to me, he said he'd check his notes and call me. He called me back later that day and said ok hes ready to play it for me and told me he was gonna play me the blackeyed peas song??? I was very confussed...I then re explained to him what the father daughter song was...he asked for all the fast songs again I told him at the meeting??? I told him I was out and didn't have them to give to him at the moment. He told me he'll find them and call me the next day. The next day he never called, I called him after 4. He said he was ready to play me the song he started to explained he was gonna just play different versions of the twist a fast version, slow version etc. I told him that is nothing that we talked about and I'm very frustrated that I have to keep explaining this to him...this conversation was 9 days before my wedding. I told him I was too upset to speak to him at the moment and I would have my fiancee call him back Which he did my fiancee had to tell him about father daughter song again then asked dj other question and found out he had our attendants all worng ralated to the wrong people it was a mess and he has us doing us first dance at the worng time pretty much everything was not right so we asked for our money back he refused and hung up on my fiancee 2x. We then sent a written request for a refund the DJ is now trying to say that he charges $31 something an hours for some many hours....in order to equal the $250, we offer him to take $75 which was the orignal deposit amount he requested and refund us the $175. He will not....so do I have a case if I take him to the magistrate and can I now ask for the full rufund, plus new DJ fees, plus court costs? Please advise? also just wanted to add I also told the DJ at least 3 times to look on you tube at father duaghter dance songs so he could get a better idea I what I meant, and the Dj kept acting like he understood every time it was explained Thanks all I do have all the emails and I paid by check so I have canceled check As soon as we found out he had everything a mess we asked for money back and met with another dj 8 days before the wedding....
When is a good time to find and book a wedding DJ?
We have a tad over 8 months until our wedding. Is now a good time to book a DJ? I've checked out 3 local DJs on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau and I think I've narrowed my search down to 2 possible DJs. Now I need to meet with them. Is this something that should have been planned earlier than now?
