BRIDES - how do you feel about wedding consultants?
Brides I just got married August 30th, 2008. I LOVED planning my wedding and have helped people in the past plan their weddings. I LOVE making all the little decisions you need to make and looking at all the options to see which one best fits your dream. There were MANY compliments of my wedding and how everything was coordinated so beautifully and how every little detail was really touched upon. this gave me such a GREAT satisfaction. My question to you is....Would you go to someone just for their opinion? Kind of like a consultant...but not as much. There would be no contract. It's not a " planner" service...Just someone you can take all your ideas, magazine cut outs, websites, samples etc to and throw them all out there and get someones outside, unbiased opinion on? Or have that someone take what you are showing them and come up with a new idea that you might like.It would also be someone you could hire..again...no contracts.. just one time consultations.. unless you want need to come back for more opinions ... to come shopping with you. like for invites, bridesmaid dresses, tux'es, bridal gowns, favors. i can also go to craft stores w you and help you put your ideas together etc etc.so, it would be $100 visit. again...no strings attached. no contracts and if you want or need to come back again..it would be at a discount for repeat customers. or if you want to arrange to have a certain of visits..maybe we can work out a package.i can also specialize in organizing the Bride. a newly engaged bride who is so overwhelmed...and just needs direction, a binder, a checklist and some help deciding on priorities....please, let me know you thoughts...would you hire someone on a per diam basis to have a fresh opinion?Good Luck and Congrats It's also for the bride who can't afford to pay a consultant or a planner bc they usually are 10 15 % of what you buy for your wedding. Average wedding is $25,000 $30,000. Charging 10 % is another $2500 $3000 to pay someone...which is a lot of extra $. You can have another photographer package with that $ this way, at $100 per visit.. you can keep your consultation costs downAnother thought...take that Bride that had envisions of sitting down with her whole bridal party anf family helping her make decisions and put things together...and then it turns out that her bridal party is not like that. people aren't as available as much as she wants them to be. everyone is busy in their own lives. i know you will say...then they aren't true friends and she shouldn't have picked them for bridesmaids... but you all know the truth in the end... people change and people sometimes turn out to be different when you really need them. this way, you have someone you can turn to and get opinions and help.. and it will lessen the anger at the bridal party..again..it's not " event planning" ...it's more " the second opinion.."

A wedding consultant/events planner?
Can a wedding events planner be a successful career on it's own or is it more of a side business?
What type of schooling does one need to become a certified wedding consultant/coordinator or wedding planner?
I have been working for catering company for almost a year now, and I started out as a server and have been promoted to a coordinator, but what I do isn't really honest to goodness wedding planning. I would like to make professional wedding planning a career, but am unsure how to approach scholing for it. Does it require a degree in hospitality or just a certification after a few basic classes? I will be attending a community college, if this helps, but will have the ability to transfer to a four year school if need be. Any advice is appreciated
In order to be a wedding consultant/wedding planner, what do you have to major in?
Also, what university is the best for that major?
Where should I hire a wedding consultant?
For the past year, my fiance and I thought we had our wedding plans all figured out on our own, but now that it's 8 months away, recent circumstances have changed everything We now want to get married in the town we got engaged in, which is about 2 hours away from where we live. Since I'm finishing up grad school, I don't have the time to plan an entire wedding from scratch by May, so we'll definitely need to hire a wedding coordinator. My question is, should we look for one here in the town where we live, or one in the town where our ceremony reception will be held? Please help
Wedding consultant?
Does anybody know of any online wedding consultant schools please help
Wedding consultants: When did weddings start to need a 'theme'?
I don't get it. Isn't the theme the nuptials? the celebration of two people in love? the beginning of two people becoming one? I understand the colors for the bridesmaids, flowers, tuxes, tablecloths etc. but that isn't a THEME. It's a color scheme. When did weddings become places for masquarade parties, fish, and teacups? Is this the way most brides plan or is this for a rare few?to Siren I didn't say i was against it or disapproved of it. I wanted to know when it started. Reading is a skill.
