Michigan locations for small/budget wedding ceremonies...?
I live near Lansing and I am trying to find somewhere in Michigan to have a very small wedding ceremony only on a small budget. We will have a " reception" closer to home on another day. I am considering outdoor or indoor, beach or others, I am just looking for options If you had a Michigan wedding and have suggestions for a location, working with a budget, etc... Please let me know
Is it rude to proceed with a wedding ceremony purposely knowing a lot of people won't be able to attend?
My boyfriend and I are planning on getting married but we haven't told anyone in his family yet, and only my mother. We both agree on a very small intimate ceremony as it's more personal and much less expensive. We don't want to spend a lot on a wedding as we are going through court battles with his daughter and want to utilize our finances wisely on saving for a house. I've been married before and personally don't care about having a big to do out of it. He's never been married and I know that his mom and family will want to make a big deal out of it. He's very low key and doesn't really want a big ceremony either. We have considered doing a cruise ship wedding to combine a honeymoon, with the main reason being that we know due to the cost that not many would be able to attend. We don't want to shoot down his family or mine, but we know that they will want to have a large crowd...and taking into consideration the size of the family, we're looking at over 200 people easy We are trying to ensure a future for ourselves and spending tons of money on a wedding ceremony that neither of us want isn't going to help.I should mention that he hasn't told his family yet because he knows they are going to try to go way overboard, so he wants us to decide how we want to proceed and then tell them what we are doing. He wants us to book and decide on what we want before we tell them, so it's set in stone on our decision and they can't try to change our minds.
Is planning a DIY wedding ceremony and reception with under $1200.00 possible?
Hey everyone So I am planning my wedding ceremony and reception for Sept. and I only have 5 months to save for it. I have already bought my dress and have put a down payment on my venue. That means if I save 1200.00 I will have around 430.00 left after paying off the venue. Is it possible to pay for everything with only 430.00?More details there will be 100 150 peoplesmall venue sightBBQ potluck reception foodalready have dressonly 2 maids and grooms including maid of honor and best man making tissue paper flowers for decorations and bouquetlooking for small speakers to plug into ipod for musicall center pieces will be hand made with fruit, driftwood, vases, white x mas lights, etc.My Mom is planning on pitching in $500.00 and my grandma pitching in with the food, but I don't want to plan on that happening just in case. If you need anymore details, please let me know. This is definitely a first for me and kind of in uncharted waters.Thank you for your help Sincerely,My family has a potluck for every occasion, including weddings. We are a laid back family and like the variety Thank you for your answer though I guess I left some important details out We have a friend that is registered officiant to marry us and is going to do so for free as a gift. We also have a family professional photographer doing the same thing for us. My brides maid's mom is making is decorating cupcakes for us so we don't need to worry about a cake for everyone. There will also be no alcohol at the reception due to a few recovering alcoholics we have in the family and we don't want someone drinking and driving on our shoulders. I do think that I will probably get a real bouquet for myself after hearing it like that lol. chairs and tables are being provided and it is mostly a BBQ reception i.e burgers, hot dogs, salads, pasta, etc .The center pieces are still being thought out, but I thought about putting pebbles in the bottom of a vase and filling them with water and sliced oranges and blood oranges to give them a delicate look. Still working on the rest of the center piece idea and I'm not allow
What time should my wedding ceremony start followed by a reception?
I thought about 3 30 because its not to early and not late and it would quickly follow by a reception at the same place. I wanted the DJ their at 5 30, so that the dancing party don't begin til later on. I wanted time after the ceremony for pictures i still wanted it to be daytime for them lol i the DJ keeps insisting that I have the ceremony at 4 30. because he said hours between the time I chose would keep my guess waiting to long. but I thought that everyone can go inside for food and to sit while we were outside taking pictures.....? the dj will be their at the ceremony as well what time should I begin everything? my ceremony is an outdoor. sept 16th sunday 2012 thanks guys
Little boys in wedding ceremony?
I am getting married in a Christmas themed wedding next year and I am trying to figure out how to include my brothers. They will be 6,8, and 12. The only boy title I know of is ring bearer. I have heard of ushers but knowing my brothers, I think that may be too overwhelming for them. Is there any other ideas I might be able to do?

Would prefer closer to Willoughby since that's where the reception is. Inside or out but prefer inside places.

When do you sign the papers during the wedding ceremony - before or after the kiss?
The officiant we're working with says 99 % of the time they sign the papers after the kiss announce you as man and wife. But that doesn't seem right to me. Shouldn't the final kiss announcement be after the signing of the papers? That's a nice way to end the ceremony and then you walk down the aisle. I think it would be weird to sign the papers and just walk down the aisle right afterwards without any words.
Common law married, now finally having a wedding ceremony. How do we word the invitations?
We've been common law married for 11 years we're in Texas, they still do that here . We've got the kids, a house, etc. We have NEVER had a wedding ceremony, so this is not simply a redo because I didn't get my wedding day. No jp, no vows, etc. I'm having a HUGE problem wording the invitations though. While we will dress formally, I want my guests to be comfortable. We are paying for everything, so that's not an issue. I just want something that says " We're making it official " Any suggestions?
