Question: Wedding center piece ideas...not flowers?
(Posted by: bugletti on 2011-11-28 00:10:39)
They are small round tables. About 8 people per table. I am on a tight budget and flowers are just so expensive. Its a spring wedding. |

For my senior prom we got a bunch of glass bowls and put stuff in them. Like a candle floating on water, cheap little jewels. You can get several in a pack at the dollar store. Pictures are good as well. |

You could do floating candles, those tea light candles are available at most dollar stores and will float. The nice thing about them is you can determine how high the glass/ bowl/ vase is that you put them in and then you can make sure that people's views aren't obstructed. A glass with some rocks or pebbles looks nice too. Since it is a spring wedding you could do small baskets, fill them with Easter grass or colored paper and put cute things in them or chocolates for people to snack on. You could also do little nests with tiny bird eggs in them (or chocolate eggs). Depending on your cake choice, you could consider putting a cupcake tray n the center with enough cupcakes for each person. Fruit also makes a pretty centerpiece and can be placed in anything that you think matches your theme, add some tiny paper umbrellas for something more unique. Plus you can eat the fruit (or give it away) afterwards. Remember, you don't have to make all the centerpieces identical! For my mother's wedding we placed a white candle in the center and then just scattered some decorative glass "pebbles " in her colors around the candle, it was lovely and romantic. Depending on your theme, you might do some origami and set it on a plate or float them in a bowl. Seashells and sand can be arranged on a plate or bowl to look nice, even better if you can add some cheap netting from the fabric store (likely only $1-$2 per yard and 2 yards could probably do all the tables). Christmas ornaments that are pale or match your chosen colors can be used along with Easter grass and placed on a plate. If you choose the right ornaments it won't be reminiscent of Christmas at all. Cookie or candy jars can be cute, especially if you wrap them in ribbon or fabric. Remember, this all seems important right now, but in a year from now none of your guests will remember your centerpieces anyway, so try not to stress out about it too much. At my wedding we didn't have any centerpieces at all. |

Check this out: dollarstorestyle.com/ weddingcenterpieces.html Some of these can become favors as well. Real flowers are expensive, look for silks. This can work for bridesmaids bouquets & the toss bouquet. They become a keepsake. |

I really wanted to use the edible arrangements. ediblearrangements.ca/ They are great, and the guests can snack on them. They have small ones for small tables. You could also put a candle, or a centerpiece with cupcakes or something along those line. |

I like this look: google.com/ imgres?hl= en &sa= X &biw= 1280 &bih= 558 &tbm= isch &prmd= imvns &tbnid= yNRbeCQ6ttMARM: &imgrefurl= elizabethannedesigns.com/ blog/ 2010/ 06/ 02/ past-to-present-timeless-vintage-wedding-ideas/ &docid= moUi9Qev21BljM &imgurl= cache.elizabethannedesigns.com/ blog/ wp-content/ uploads/ 2010/ 06/ Vintage-Purple-and-Pink-Centerpieces-500x532.jpg &w= 500 &h= 532 &ei= BfvTTtGMAaiXiQe14M2TDw &zoom= 1 &iact= rc &dur= 47 &sig= 101151016064613995100 &page= 1 &tbnh= 109 &tbnw= 116 &start= 0 &ndsp= 24 &ved= 1t:429,r:16,s:0 &tx= 77 &ty= 82 It's just an old empty picture frame, some vintage "crystal " - borrow mismatched pieces or look at the Salvation Army for more - with candles and flowers, but you could easily replace the flowers and vases with pillar candles from Walmart (about $3 each). |

I just an article about yarn poof balls used in place of flowers as wedding decor and thought it would be a great, cheaper alternative to flowers. If you don't mind doing some crafts yourself, I think this idea could be inexpensive and unique. offbeatbride.com/ 2011/ 10/ diy-yarn-poofballs I also second that Martha Stewart Weddings has some great ideas and a lot of free printables and tutorials. Good luck! |

Lanterns are a good alternative. |

Be careful with candles. I have seen 2 table fires caused by candles. How about just using inexpensive glass bud vases with 1 rose in each vase and use greenery as filler in the vases. |

Black and white table clothes Black tapers in simple candle holders (3 per table) Go to Dollar Tree and buy wood frames of various styles (5X & or smaller) -- or anything you can spray paint black (3 per table) When Walgreens or CVS puts prints on sale for free or next to nothing, have enough printed for each frame. Do them in black and white. (These are photos of the couple together) --------------------------------------------------- Use the after Christmas sales to your advantage. Buy pearl look garland to string through the centerpieces. Battery operated candles, white ribbon or colors that match your wedding colors. Wired ribbon is easy to shape into bows, etc. |
