How to stack teird wedding cakes?
after watching programmes like cake boss and ace of cake and the cake challenges i see that they use plumbing pipes as theire main support and i get that as it will keep all the teires straight but how do they stop each teir weighing down on the last.I have tried the plate system but it still didnt work. Do they put some kind of metal board between each teir. I really need to know, im planning on creating a very tall wedding cake, lets say 6 teirs all varying widths and hieghts. I need to know because no matter what i try i can see the wieght straining on each teir. Also how do you get such sharp edges on cakes covered in butter cream and then fondant?thanks for the advice its much appreciated.

Wedding cake - Buttercream vs Fondant?
Hello I am not sure what to do about my wedding cake. On the one hand, I've heard that using a fondant keeps the cake moist inside and keeps the icing from melting. On the other hand, buttercream is cheaper and it seems we can choose from lots of tasty flavors not sure what fondant tastes like I haven't done my tastings yet but would like to go in with a clearer idea of what I'm looking for. Am also putting together a budget so any information is good.More details Our wedding is in late October so maybe we won't have the problem of melting buttercream? Not sureThanks for any input

Wedding cakes from scrach or permade?
i made my sisters wedding cake out of casco cakes and it turned out better than anyone could of asked for. But here is my question should i use a box cake mix or should i use a pre made cake from hy vee local store ? I know how to make it stand straight and decorate it i just need advice on what to use for the cake. for you know of any recipes that work for wedding cakes i would be willing to try them out too. im not aginst back from scrach.
