Can this be a bridesmaids gift?
All of my bridesmaids are out of town. Some of them are getting into town a few days early, and want to do stuff around the city that I live in. We have two days to fill before the rehearsal so I am planning on the zoo $14 per person and a day in the actual city doing various activities plus lunch all in all about $20 per person . I am also going to get them something small and unique to them that is an actual gift around $30 $40 . Can this count as the bridesmaid gift?Also, for the ones who are not coming in early I plan on spending a little more on the physical gift $65 $75 . Does that sound okay since all in all it comes out to the same? Or do you recommend that I just let the girls pay for their own stuff at the zoo and in the city and buy bridesmaid gifts all of relatively equal value?ps. Yes, I know adults at the zoo might seem silly, but that's what they want to do.pps. I can't afford to pay for their stuff if it is not included as the " gift" so please don't suggest that. If I had requested that they fly in early to hang out then I would be more than willing to pay. However, they are coming in early because they want a mini vacation, and I have already found them free lodging for those days.

What do I do for bridesmaids if I don't have many girlfriends?
Between my fiance's friends, his brothers and my only brother we have plenty of groomsmen. Not so much with the bridesmaids, however. Neither of us have sisters and my brother isn't married. And I have a small family so I don't have any cousins that I could ask or would want to ask . I probably sound anti social, but unless I see people in person I'm not good at keeping in contact with them. And I've been traveling abroad for work since college so I haven't seen my friends regularly for several years now. So I almost feel guilty for asking a couple of my high school friends. Although I'm 25 so it's not like I haven't gone years and years without seeing them. Soon I'll be returning to the U.S. because my fiance is in the military and has new orders stateside. So I'll be seeing more of them shortly. Really I'm just trying to get by with the minimum amount of bridesmaids. As long as I can match the number of groomsmen I'm fine with that. Two high school friends I kept in pretty good contact so I'll likely ask them. And my fiance, myself and my soon to be sister in law get along well so I'd like to ask her. But I'm still short a bridesmaid. I could ask a friend that I haven't talked with much recently. Or we could ask my fiance's cousin. Ugh, I'm getting stressed by the wedding details already At least this is a smaller wedding that doesn't have a huge wedding party. Four of each is more than plenty Who do you think I should ask my distant friend or my fiance's cousin? And I'm open to any other suggestions as well. Lastly, do you think it will look odd it the wedding party has disproportioned connections to my fiance? The majority will either be his friends or his relatives. Thanks for your help
I'm a bridesmaid and the Bride and Groom could care less about the wedding!?
I was asked to be a bridesmaid in a wedding that I have to purchase a plane ticket for and buy a $150 dress. The wedding is June 16 and the Bride and Groom haven't done anything. The groom told his mom to cook hot dogs for the wedding party and the Bride said that there will be no reception. The groom doesn't have a tux neither does the groomsmen and there are no rings. They have literally done nothing except set a date and pencil in the date on the church calendar. I am good friends with the Brides Aunt so she is trying to plan this wedding and get everything straight and all the bride keeps saying is I don't want to talk about it, its stressing me out I am seriously thinking about backing out because why should I spend over $400 on a wedding that the bride and groom could obviously care less about?What would you do at this point? How should I handle this situation? Jilly, it is not a matter of the food its the effort she is putting into wedding. She didn't even buy the invitations 2 months ago her aunt and I had a talk with her about planning and she cried saying we were stressing her out. Then when she picked out the bridesmaid and maid of honor dresses for us she says oh I guess I need a dress too huh? So she finds a dress on craigslist buys it and now she doesn't care about decorations, music, none of the groomsmen have a tux or has been fitted for one she said they can go in and rent a tux 3 days before since that is what her fiance did last year at a wedding. And if they don't get a tux then they are not in the wedding. She said she's inviting 175 people and not feeding them most people have to travel from out of town to come to her wedding. I am a bridesmaid in my friends wedding on Friday...and I need some shape wear. Preferably, more so for tummy and back. I have waited until last minute, now I am mildly starting to panic. I bought a piece this morning from Hanes Bali and it's not what I thought it was. Anyone have a suggestion for shapewear that is less expensive and works well? Thanks

Just wondering, is a bridesmaid still called a bridesmaid if they are married? I know if your maid of honor is married, then they're called matron of honor. But, what about the other bridesmaids? Are they bridesmatrons, or still just called bridesmaids regardless of marital status?Traditionally, are you supposed to ask unmarried women to be your bridesmaids? I know several people who have had married women as their bridesmaids, but I'm just wondering if it's called " maid" because they're supposed to be unmarried? Does it matter?Ricardo, it's nice to know that you do not pay your maids well, but I'm pretty sure the " maid" in bridesmaid is referring to the other definition of maid, " A girl or young woman, esp. an unmarried one" , rather than " one who cleans your house."

What is an acceptable amount to spend on a bridal shower gift when you are a Bridesmaid?
I am throwing a bridal shower on Saturday. I am providing the favors, decor, drinks wine too and a few of the food dishes for the 40 guests. I happily volunteered to do this because I am a bridesmaid and I know that is part of my responsibly. I am now stuck on the gift. I already ordered a monogram robe as a gift but I am not thinking it is too small. It was under $50 but it is very nice. Do you that is enough? I know you shouldn't be a bridesmaid if you don't have the money but income changed a few months ago. I will be paying for my own dress, shoes, hair,make up and travel lodging expenses. So ow much should I spend on a bridal and wedding gifts? Is the robe enough?PLEASE HELP, this is my FIRST and LAST time being a bridesmaid.
