My wife lied to me about going to the doctor for prenatal care is this neglect?

Question: My wife lied to me about going to the doctor for prenatal care is this neglect?

(Posted by: livintheazlife on 2009-11-27 15:32:57)

My wife lied to me about having prenatal care for our baby girl for nine months and when the baby was born kept up the lie about having seen a doctor which has no record of her or even knows who she is. She ended up having to have a C section because of the baby being breach. Is this neglect and will it get her into trouble if we go to court. I'm not trying to be spiteful or vengeful. I still love her just can't live with her. I'm currently seeking divorce because I can not trust anything she says anymore.

OMG i think having a baby and getting prenatal care is very important while your pregnant for so many reasons, but for the most important part its to make sure that baby is getting the proper care, like prenatal vitamins and to make sure the baby is okay and that there isn't anything wrong with it. i think this is the worst thing a mother could do because she is putting herself in risk as much as the baby. and yes this is neglect!!! because she neglect the care of her own child, its one thing to not care about yourself and don't go to the doctor but the baby didn't asked to be born in this world and at least she could have done was go to the doctor to make sure the baby is okay. and is she felt that it wasn't wrong not for her to go to the doctor while she was pregnant then she wouldn't have lied about it. Obviously she knew it was wrong that's why she continued to lie about it. i think you should fight for full custody for your child because there is no telling what she might do alone to the child if she couldn't even care for it in her own belly. Good lUck with everything and i wish you all best.

Actually no, it isn't neglect. It is advised that pregnant mothers go to doctors for checkups but it is not required.

Its not neglect - Back in the pioneer days they didn't have prenatal care and those babies turned out just fine Just as its not neglect to not take prenatal vitamins - its recommended but not required

Breach babies are born to women who visit the doctor on a regular basis, too. No, this is not considered negectful, but it is considered extremely stupid. A woman who has access to prenatal care and chooses not to use it is dumber than a sack of hammers or has some serious psychological issues.

Why would someone get "in trouble " over this in court? I don't see how it's relative to not getting prenatal care. are you seeking custody of the child or something? Was she scared of being pregnant or having the baby? Or was she just being lazy or selfish? Some of us have irrational fears we can't help. I certainly don't know your situation, but just thought i'd ask. There is no law that says a woman has to have prenatal care, but it was rather irresponsible of your wife not to receive any. I'm sure cave women didn't get prenatal care, but it wasn't available or recommended back then. If you don't trust your wife anymore then i guess divorce is one option. If you love her, maybe the two of you could consider marriage counseling first -- we can gain a lot of insight about ourselves and each other through marriage counseling. Marriage counseling also works to help us figure out whether the relationship is worth repairing or not. So, if you're unsure, ask her if she'd go? I don't know what else to say

WHat type of animal would not get prenatal care !GOD YES GET A JUDGE TO GIVE YOU FULL CUSTODY OF THAT CHILD THE ANIMAL OF A MOTHER HAS ALREADY SHOWN SHE GIVES A DAMN ABOUT THIS CHILD ! I WOULD TELL THE JUDGE YOU FEAR FOR YOUR CHILDS SAFETY AT ALL TIMES!! THIS BITCH COULD HARM THIS CHILD AND BLAME YOU ! DO IT NOW BEFORE IT IS TO LATE!

No you cant really use that BUT has she brought the child to dr yet for check-up. The baby dr usually sees the baby the first week or two after birth. If she is not taking child to dr, that is medical neglect. You have to focus on the child and how she is doing with baby. (not her).
