Why do people break up relationships that they have been together so long in?
I know of a couple who were married for 20 years and then they decided to divorce. I'm confused. Why spend so much time with a person and then divorce? And those couples there was nothing extravagant on the surface like cheating or some other ghastly act. These people just decide to not be together anymore. Isn't that a waste?

my ex and i went out for almost three years. we had our good times and our personalities went well together when we were getting along. but for the most part it ws fighting. i think hes a little nutty and controlling, and he thinks im wrong when i do things like go out with friends to a bar. anyway, so we've broken up and we're still talking daily through texts or calls. i just saw something on his facebook saying how he ws going out for his bday with people and of course i wasnt invited. we still both have feelings for eachother we just know we dont work so it basically takes off the pain just saying goodbye by talking everyday.. however im realizing and ive heard this isnt good. what are your feelings about talking after breaking up? i know if he met someone id die of pain and would def have to stop talking to him.. but i mean for awehile is it ok to talk still or does it hinder the healing?

Hi allAndy here in london, need some relationship advice.My girlfriend split from me yesterday. She married, not to me But separated. We met after her split and grew very close.She married as she did like the guy but also to stay in the UK. As she is split she is forced to stay in constant contact with her husband til late next year which will ensure she gets her visa.The ex doesn't know about me... As fear he'll start divorce proceedings. Which also means only select friends can know about me.We split still liking and having feelings for each other. But she could no longer cope with the stress her ex brings he still wants her back and having to tip toe around certain friends.Since the 'chat' last night , she asked me to keep in contact, iv not contacted her since but I'm desperate too I'm hoping the time apart will make her miss me.Do you have advise? I'm in need of some serious relationship advice...in a nut shell, me and my ex we're together on and off since 2003. We we're together for about 2 years then broke up during that period of time, we would still keep in contact and tell each other we loved each other and what not. He then " fell in love" with some other girl which hurt me the most he broke up with her, 2 years later we started talking again to get back together. But during that period of time when he was with her and broke up with her, it was a love hate relationship. So we finally get back together, everything was great, finally I had the man I loved so much back in my life. The reason for us breaking up, is because we fought too much at least once a week there was a fight. We did everything to try to make it work. We both got tired of it and just broke up. It's now day 4 and I'm at my worse. I need him and I miss him so much...How can you get over someone that's been in your life for 8 years? I'm hurting pretty bad right now. So I got out of a 3 yr relationship alil over a mnth ago. strted seeing sum1 new but I've known this sweet caring guy for 7 yrs.
