Question: Relatively inexpensive honeymoon ideas?
(Posted by: on 2010-01-04 19:44:54)
Ok.. So my fiancee and I are getting married on May 29, 2010. We have about $2200 to spend. TOTAL. What do you recommend? We live near Galveston, Texas if that helps. Any feedback of ideas or even your own experience is appreciated. Thanks! |

Since many cruises leave out of galveston, try a cruise. For $2,200 you can get a nice cruise for about 5-7 days. Don't forget to save money for drinks and tips. |

Since you live in Texas you could maybe take a road trip to another city in Texas or nearby state... why not arizona or new mexico... |

My husband and i couldnt afford a big honeymoon either so we searched online and hired a little 'fishermans' cottage by the sea for a few nights, it was lovely, not a resort so no other couples ot kids etc. very romantic and as it was self catering we brought our own food and a few bottles of champagne, you could drive to a nice country or seaside one and make the roadtrip part of the honeymoon too.plan some cute places to stop and enjoy! I hope you find something nice..i would rather stay away from a popular resort..save that for next year when you can save a little more :) |

How about a road trip? Maybe to the FL keys? They have many inexpensive hotels, specially if you go during the week. They have these nice dinner cruises, with everything included. I just did that and didn't spend much. |

My fiance and my wedding budget is under $1,000...I understand the stress! To save money: -I bought my dress off the rack and ended up getting a $900 dress for $100 in an end-of-season sale at a really nice wedding boutique -We're having our reception in the same place as the ceremony to consolidate on venue costs -I'm doing all of our invitations by hand using card stock and my home computer (It costed $10 for fifty invites, and they look very classy) -We limited our reception to about 100 close friends and family, and are serving a light dinner that we are preparing ourselves (fresh fruit, sandwich bar, a few salads, punch, and coffee) -We bought a Walmart cake (two tiers that serve over a hundred for $118) and it actually looks pretty nice -We're using sparkling apple cider for toasts rather than champagne -We're not doing a dance, but are still incorporating our first dance into the service using a provided sound system and IPod -No favors, so we are getting nice flowers -A family member is doing the professional wedding photographs -The reception will end at about 6PM and the younger people are all going to a hotel with a water park inside to hangout/ party :) -Everything is just about paid for and we've spent just over $500...which means more and savings and a little nicer honeymoon! -Try sites like Allegiant Air to transform your leftover money into cheaper airfare. Cruises also seem to be a little less costly. Las Vegas is always an option too! Hotels like the Flamingo, Excalibur, and Mandalay Bay often have room specials and King suites for around $100 per night! Good luck-- there are soo many resources to do your own wedding tastefully without spending a fortune. Ours is going to be really nice and I'll appreciate it even more doing the invites/ programs/ decorations myself. And I'll enjoy spending the leftover money on a longer honeymoon :) You can have an awesome wedding and honeymoon with just $2200! |

There are good honeymoons in las vegas. the plane fares out of hobby in houston could be purchased in advance internet for probably around 500 round trip for both of you or less. rooms at the excalibre and imperial palace on the internet are resonable now purchased in advance generally. food and room and looking around a little bit should not cost you more than 1400 for 4 nights during weekdays in vegas on the strip. does that sound good?? you would never forget it. |
