Question: Where is the best honeymoon place that won't break the bank? (think in december)?
(Posted by: Stella on 2006-04-25 09:52:35)
I'm getting married this December and having trouble finding a nice, affordable honeymoon spot. Any suggestions? Opps, I could have said that we have about a $3000 budget, and something all- inclusive would be great. |

For cold weather - like skiing try Crested Butte, CO or Steamboat Sprgs. For warm beaches - try a Carribean cruise - shop early and get good deals. |

As wild_orchid mentioned, there are so many variables. What is "affordable ", where are you located, and do you want cold weather or warm weather? Caribbean and Mexican riviera crusises are a great bet, with Carnival being one of the least expensive. Obviously the closer you are to any certain location, the less expensive it will be to get there. If you are on the West coast side of the US, Mexico has lots of affordable hotels on the coast - Los Cabos, Ixtapa, PV, Mazatlan, etc. For those closer to the East coast, there are Caribbean cruises that leave from Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico for many cruise lines. A Western Caribbean cruise may have less down time (travel time) and can give you long days at port. You could also fly directly to Cancun or that area and stay in a hotel for they honeymoon. There are many all-inclusive resorts that end up being decent deals when you figure in the amount of food and alcohol that one might consume on vacation. Many include water sports as well - like kayaking, snorkel gear, sailing, etc. For cold weather, Canada is also an option, depending on where you are. The US dollar is fairly strong against theirs, so you may be able to find a place at a great rate with the conversion rates. Happy engagement, Have a Beautiful wedding, and Good Luck in your future life together! :) |

It depends on what you're into. If you like the finer things: Gourmet dining, fine hotels, spas, pools, shopping, and the best treatment on a budget: Vegas... I know what you're thinking, but it isn't the cheesy city it used to be. Vegas has several fine art galleries, some of the most lavish hotels in the world, all the finest shops, world-reknowned gourmet restaurants, superstar entertainment and luxurious spas. You can stay at a 5 star luxury hotel, like the Bellagio for the price of an average hotel in New York. Almost everything you'd want to do is within walking distance, but you could take a cab, too. There are many, many bargains, just look online. Good luck, and wherever you end up going, have a wonderful time!!! |

You have to define your meaning of cheap. Cruise can run from 1100 dollars to loads of cash. Trip to Mexico can go from 1240 dollars on up. FOR A REAL CHEAP HONEY MOON LIKE 500 DOLLARS OR LESS. You can get a cheap hotel on one of the beaches on the west or east coast depending on which you are close to. You can get in your car and find a nice little city in a state by the beach. You can then see how much it costs to rent out a little cheap hotel room for a week. The hotel will not be the best but you will have your car and be able to see a new city. The best way to find out about cheap hotel rooms in a city is by going to the classified section of the city paper you have picked out and see if they have any hotels listed with their weekly price. You would be surprised how many hotels list their rooms in some cities as if they are starter apartments. IN LA for example you can rent a hotel room for 200 a week some parts of LA less. MAke sure you have atleast 1 back up hotel more preferably in case the first one isn't up to your standards. The more back ups the better. Which would leave you 300 dollars for gas and other expenses. Going to the beach with nice bologna and turkey sandwiches at sunset 6.00 dollars. |

You should be able to do an all inclusive resort in Mexico or Jamaica for $3000. Or Punta Cana is also a good island with a reasonable price tag. |

You would have to splurge to about $4500, but my husband and I went to the Sandals resort in Ocho Rios Jamaica for that much... all inclusive. It was an entire week, so it would probably be less for a shorter honeymoon. We had the time of our lives and can't wait to go back! |
