Time between separation and divorce?
I've been separated from my ex for three years after nearly nine years of marriage. My ex and I are mature about our split and have an amicable relationship, and occasionally meet up to catch up we do not have sex, and the meetings are occasional . I've been seeing a new girlfriend for the last 7 months and she is suggesting I obtain a divorce with my ex. My girlfriend feels I cannot move forward with her until I am divorced. While it is true that I cannot remarry until I am divorced, in my mind I am not even considering getting remarried, and I don't feel a burning need to get divorced, and feel that there is no need to get divorced until I feel I want to get remarried. My girlfriend suggests that it is " normal for separated couples to get divorced quickly after they separate" . I'm curious to know what the statistics are for the time between separation and divorce? Do some couples stay separated but married for many years and carry on happy new relationships?

My BF and I've been dating for 1 year. I'm divorced female, with a 9yr kid from my previous marriage. My BF said that he had been divorced almost 8 9 years ago. We both love each other a lot. He told me that he loves me so much and that he would marry me this year. I showed him my divorce papers 6months ago. I asked to show his divorce papers too. He has 10yr girl from his ex wife. They both have a joint mortgage together. I asked him how that is possible when they are divorced. He told me that the ex wife was out of job and told me that he had the ex wife access to his house until his 10yr girl turned 18years, which did not make sense to me, as the ex wife is still partial owner of the home as the house was listed on both my BF's and his ex wife's names. I insisted to see the divorce papers around X mas time. He told me that he would show them to me after holiday season, bought more time. Anyway long story short, yesterday we had a serious conversation and I insisted about his divorce papers. He then told me that he wasn't divorced but was LEGALLY SEPARATED.Then I understood why they still have the house on both of their names. I was so shocked and surprised that he hid this fact from me all these months. His ex wife has her own BF. She also is aware that my BF and I are in love with each other. My BF brings his 10yr girl to my apt few times for sleep overs. Anyway he apologized to me for not telling this all these months and that he loves me a whole lot and that he has never been with a woman who is as caring as me. He ex wife was an alcoholic. He told me that if I still love him the same way and am still interested in getting married to me, he will get a divorce from his ex wife and then marry me. He told me that it would take about 6 12months for the divorce. He lives in NJ. I'm really so madly in love with this man and he feels the same about me. We both want to have a long term relationship. Please let me know if it makes any sense? Am I being too crazy? I met all his family members, like his dad, mom, sibling and his daughter. They all like me, especially his parents. Even his 10yr old girl likes me so much. I'm 30 and he is 50yrs. I'm Indian and he is an American. I don't want to be his GF forever. I told him one day 1 that I'm looking to get married. Please let me know if I'm making any sense? Thanks for your time

About Legal separation and divorce?
My wife seems to be mentally unstable. She is perfect most times and throws violent tantrums other times. She is unwilling to take psychiatric help and is torturing me day in and day out. My 2 children are scared of her. She is right now living away from us Me & the children on relatives' suggestion, but wants to come back immediately. I want to safeguard myself and my children, i want to seek a mutual divorce with alimony for her to take care of herself, but she is not willing. What is my position now ? P.s Her mental state is not the reason i want the separation, i cannot tolerate the way she treats me and the children when she is angry.She has seen a psychiatrist known to her friend who gave me this advice. " Take her home and keep her as a maid and pay her also, she will not do anything now." I was shocked to hear this, I am confused.

Spouse with love affair, wants to separation and divorce?
My spouse is having love affair with her colleague at her work place. Now she asked me to separate and divorce afterwards. I told her that I won't allow separtion and divorce either. Right now she stays with the guy in affair, she hired her family lawyer to correspond me. I have so many restrictions from her lawyer. For example, not to call & contact without written notice. don't touch money savings, etc. However, there is a hope that she may try to improve our relationship to keep marriage by taking couselling if I willing to save marriage. Also, at the same time, she wants to stay with the guy in affair. I can't sleep day & night. I love my wife. I want to save our marriage. Could anyone help me please? Is it worth saving our marriage? I have a friend that is planning on divorcing her husband but needs to leave the house before the process gets started. They have one child together that is 5 yrs old.
