I told someone i class today that I was going to law school next year. She told me " You definitely look like a lawyer. You can pull that off really well" . Haha what does that mean?...is that a good or bad thing?

So long story short, i hired a lawyer $400, and so far it seems like she's not useful. I've called her several times and left several messages and she never gets back to me. i just wanted to know details about my divorce case and she simply had no good answer. I asked her if after 1 full year of separation if it automatically turns into a divorce? and also if i had to go there and finalize everything by signing papers. First she states that after 1 full year it will automatically become a divorce and then she says that we have to sign.. S so basically my questions to you guys is what can i do or say to my lawyer that will make her do the job i paid her for? I would get myself a new lawyer but i dont have that kind of money.. so its a shame i spent $400 on a lawyer who wont properly do her job. does it come automatically or do i have to sign papers? anyone whose been through this please help me understand how it works. thanks. I live in quebec, canada i only paid $400 because i dont work much hours and i had to hire my lawyer from aide juridique, in english that means legal aid

I need a good child custody lawyer?
I live in Winn Parish Louisiana. I would like to have my custody agreement changed. I do not have several thousand dollars to spend, but I don't qualify for legal aid. Does anyone know of a good lawyer? Can I possibly do this in a Parish other than the one I live in? I am having severe problems with my ex violating the current custody agreement constantly. There is also nothing in our agreement about picking up and dropping off, so that is always an argument. I am usually expected to drive a long way to drop off and pick up our child for their visitation with other parent. I am the domiciliary parent. I receive child support sporadically. The other parent wants to keep our child more than they are supposed to. At times they have left so that I can't pick our child up when I was supposed to and they would not tell me where they were. I would have to drive to their house again to pick our child up when my ex said it was O.K. I tried calling the sheriff's office about this, but since there were no threats being made they would not do anything. Our child is scared of my ex and does whatever is asked of them for fear of what will happen if my ex doesn't get their way. Manipulation, guilt trips, tantrums, rages, foul language, excuses, spitefullness, vengefullness these are common things we deal with when it comes to the other parent. Every other weekend and holidays and at times in between are made purposely difficult by the other parent. I am TIRED of dealing with it and watching my child suffer because of it I am fed up with having to go along with the other parent's whims or my kid suffers if I don't. Their demands go against previous agreements in court, on paper, and even telephone conversations . My bright, beautiful child who is in counceling has had to deal with more than their share of stress, mental, emotional, and verbal abuse because of this situation. It is taking a toll.

Divorce: Lawyer wife being excessively abusive whilst living in the same house and waiting for divorce to go?
? Many of you who may have answered before on other questions on this case, may know the facts of same.My wife and I live in the same house whilst we wait for the divorce to go through. We have to do this at this time legal and practical reasons .She is a divorce lawyer.However she has many emotional and psychological reasons which led us to a divorce situation and her conduct was appalling during the marriage.Now her abusive conduct towards me persistent verbal assaults is continuing despite us agreeing to divorce on amicable terms. She agreed to make a financial settlement in my favour and drew up an agreement and signed it, She asked me to issue the divorce papers and the agreement will become order of court once the divorce goes through.Since I issued the divorce papers, her verbal assaults has exacerbated to the extent when she is in the house whilst I am there I become so stressed that I experience chest pains.I sought legal help as to how to deal with the situation, My preliminary consult with a lawyer yielded that the only way to stop the abuse is by way of court action on grounds of family violence etc. I feel that is going to be too costly and exacerbate the relations even further so I sent her an email saying that the I can't tolerate the abuse any further and that it must stop.I also told her that I have sought legal advise and that the lawyers take on the matter is that court action is the only way to stop her from abusing me. She comes back again and again with nonconstructive counter allegations saying that she is the victim of abuse, not I, She says that I can bring the action and she is a family lawyer so my threats will not wast with her.I have closed correspondence and I stay away for as long as I can with my girlfriend but I have to go back and I am terrified of the stress that will come about as a result of more verbal abuse. She also makes false allegations like I cracked the kitchen tiles whilst cooking and rubbish like that. What should I do towards stopping the abuse and unreasonable conduct without going to court as going to court would further exacerbate the poor relations whilst I am forced to live in the same house with her?A relationship with someone else has developed in the past month. Wife does not know about it, and I would not let her know about it as it will make the situation worst. She probably has a hunch, but then we have been separated for a long time so why should it matter. I told her that if any of us meets someone else we need to be be big and civil about it. I have no problem in her meeting and seeing someone. She most likely does as she always returns home in the late hours of the morning even during week nights.
