Family law question-URGENT! Any family lawyers here?
I got divorced in a state I no longer live in. My ex is military and was stationed there at the time. He is now stationed overseas, and he has the kids. I live across the country from the original court that decided custody of our children. My ex has been caught abusing the kids and I need to take him back to court to get physical custody of my kids and put a stop to the abuse, but I don't know what court would have jurisdiction. There's no way to do this in the original court. Being a military family that state we divorced in wasn't even our home of record we paid our taxes to another state that none of us now live in either . How do I get this going through a court where I am able to get to? And where can I find free legal advice in Alabama or Georgia?
Inexpensive family lawyers in Houston?
I am wanting to modify my divorce decree from 6 years ago, especially the child visitation part. I am also looking to maybe gain custodial custody of the child who is 15 as of now, my ex wife and I share joint custody. We do not have a lot of money, and was wondering if anyone knew of a inexpensive lawyer in the Houston area, or one that takes payments.I have gone online, and looked for places that have legal aid services, but looks like the wait time on that is enormous, and we don't have a lot of time.thank you in advance.

Help I am on disability. How do I get lawyer Pro Bono for child custody? Petitioner filed an Exparte for Sole Custody and was denied. We were ordered to Mediation, I Completely got my dates mixed up for mediation, and missed the date. I found out that I got my dates wrong while talking to the Child Support Officer and immediately went to the Court which was one day after the missed mediation date and went to the Family Law Facilitator and they referred me to the mediation office and told me to ask for another date. They were booked and could not reschedule a date before the court date which is coming up. Told me to just let the judge know that I missed the mediation date when we go to court and that the judge would refer us back to mediation. I need help with this, Is that possible, what should I expect????Katherine it was mediation and I surely don't take any of the appointments lightly when it comes to our son. However, we are human and I did get my dates confused, partly due to my disability and the rest is STRESS Funny our son had a dentist appointment that day and we were at the dentist at the time of the mediation. It would be a terrible injustice to our son if a decision was made without giving us another chance to mediate.Thank you Carlos, and Kather Legal Services are the ones that told me to go to mediation and ask them to reschedule. Now I will go back and let legal services know and ask what to do to protect my rights.

Okay I have a quick question and hopefully someone can give me the answer before we make a trip 30 miles away and it end up not being our weekend. We have the 1st,3rd and 5th weekends like any normal plan and we will end our christmas visit tomorrow the 28th but the question is since it say's the mother is to get her child from the 28th till the day before school resumes does that mean we still get our weekend this coming weekend or do we have to wait 2 weeks till it's the 3rd weekend to get her???

Ever since my ex fiancee got a new girlfriends, things have been pretty rocky with him and our children. and me and him. He has decided to file custody papers on me and I need to find a good family lawyer for WoodCounty. Our court date is october 12th.if anyone knows of any good family lawyers please let me knowthanks soo muchwe were never married either. we have 2 children together. and i provide the best care for my children. his accusations about me are false, which is what i dont understand. we've been doing our own thing together for the past year with our children without getting the courts involved and now all of a sudden i get papers in the mail.
Need a good family lawyer to adjust a divorce decree?
I'm looking to more than likely go back to court against my ex to try and get full custody of our son and remove the living restrictions so my son and I can move out of state. When he filed he lived in Plano so the divorce took place in Collin County? Do I need to adjust the decree in Collin County or can I do it in Tarrant County where I reside?my son is 10 and has said on more than one occasion that he is afraid of his father... my ex isn't the worst case but he is pretty bad...

Does anyone know of a pro bono or Cheap family lawyer in wake county NC. I need to divorce my spouse and terminate his rights to the kids, but I can't afford the $200 consultation fee of the places I have called. My husband wont sign papers and we have been separated for over 2 years now, and wont pay child support. Hardly acknowledges his 4 kids, even on their birthdays.Any help in this would be great, I'm really desperate and this depresses me greatly because I can't move forward in my life with out getting rid of him.I pay for food my rent my utilities with what little I make. I am thankfully renting form a relative so I can scrape by barely. but I personally don't see how that is relevant to my question.I have to work from home, because I can't afford a sitter otherwise. And I think that paying $12 a month for internet is acceptiable if it helps pay my bills.So your telling me I should crawl back to a cheating emotionally and mentally abusive man? I'm not looking for sympathy I'm looking for help, but I guess that helping somebody out in their time of need is below you. Remember that when you need help someday and are asking.
Fighting for custody of kids while getting a divorce...Family Lawyers help pls?
I have a friend who divorce should be finalized in august but he's concerned that he will still have to go to court after the divorce in fighting for custody. My question is shouldn't the childs warefare be considered before the divorce is final?....so if the divorce is posed to be final in agust then that should be the end of everything right? Or can he still have 2 deal with court issues even after the divorce is final? He has to go to court 2times before the final divorce court date in agust. 3kids are involved

where can I get real reviews for family lawyers and what not particularly speaking, Albuquerque new mexico . I'm trying to get a good lawyer. I don't want too expensive, cuz i can't afford it, and i dn't want to go too cheap and get the scraps. What makes it worse is i'm currently deployed in afghanistan, so i need a good one to make sure i'm getting what i want the best way possible. Obviously on their own sites they will tell you how good and qualified they are, and the sites they ad themselves on either have no reviews, or just one review, and the one review always seems to be conviently positive about them. some have like 250 to 500 dollar consultation fees, but might be worth it if they can work. But i don't see the difference between a lawyer that does one for free or charges for it. what factors do i look for in a family lawyer?Other Advice As i said, i'm in afghan going through a divorce. I actually want physical custody has nothing to do with child support, i just love my little girl to death . My wife has no job, not even a GED. She's not a bad mother, per say, but i don't know if there's a strategy out there that i could use, or if its really a lost cause, especially being active duty military.
