What are my legal rights in a common law divorce?
Long story short I was from California and she came from north Texas. We moved to south Texas together. Anything regarding money was pretty much 50 50. After that we decided to get married, then about 2 months after getting married we got into a car accident and things went down hill. We moved in with her brother cause we had no car to work. The guy who we wanted to sue for hitting and running was ruled out as a " Act of God" due to bad weather the night we were hit. After the car incident she started believing in God. That is where the division started to happen in us. I didn't believe nor did I have any need to become a Christian while she did. Shortly after I got the bad news that my Grandma passed away and I went back to California to bury my grandmother. I only bought a one way ticket because I didn't know how long this would take. After a series of fights over the phone about me not converting to being Christian and about where we would live next either in California with my family or in Texas with hers I decided to end the Marriage. So here's a time line and the problems I have.June 2010 moved to south Texas togetherJan 2011 we got Texas state married It was a Texas marriage from the city court house which was cheaper than a regular marriage Feb 2011 We got in the car accident April 2011 My grandma passed away Easter morning and I flew home Easter night.Sept 2011 She either turned off her phone or changed phone 's and is now unreachable. Here's my problem 1 She will not sign the divorce papers. She wants to attach herself to me and file for abandonment. 2 She refuses to give back my belongings. She also moved in secret and no longer lives at the place I last knew. 3 She no longer responds to e mails and has disconnected her phone . Her family is also un willing to give me any information because " blood is thicker than water" I have offered her numerous times to pay her to mail my belongings back and pay for the divorce. But she said and I quote " Does not want to make this easy for me" So what are my rights in getting my belongings back and ending our marriage before she tries to attach her self further to me.I have her social security and a few of her family's address and phone 's.The stuff I want back is a 2100$ computer and just a photo album thats 25 years old and has sentimental value. I work as a computer graphics designer and I take my work home with me sometimes so this really makes me clock stay late in the office.
Is there a such thing as a common law divorce in Pennsylvania?
My parents have been separated for going on close to 20 years, they haven't lived together or had their addresses the same for close to 15 years. Is there any way that my dad can get granted a common law divorce without having to go to court? My mother refuses to give him a divorce and thinks that he should still be giving her money, because she won't work. She's threatened that if he tries to go through with a divorce she'll take everything from him. Is there any way that I can help him in this situation? He did file for divorce back in 1998, but she refused to sign the papers and flipped out on him.So you think it's possible that the divorce would have gone through, even if he never followed through since she wouldn't sign them? How would I go about finding this information out?
Is there such a thing as a common law divorce in PA??
A friend of mine has been living with her boyfriend for 15 years. They meet the PA criteria for Common Law Marriage. They live in a house in her name only, which she is paying for. He drinks heavily, does not work has not worked for over 5 years , and has lately started becoming very mean and borderline abusive. She has decided that she wants to either " force" him into rehab or just end things. He will not agree to get sober and she knows she cannot make him. But she has no idea how to end things with him. She has told him she wants to end it. But he will not leave. How can she legally pursue getting him out of her life without losing half of her house and everything she owns remember, he has nothing. He is a freeloader or turning this into an ugly situation where he gets violent and causes her additonal grief. Or is there any way she can force him to get sober?? I have no idea what to tell her.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Serious answers only, please.
What are my legal rights in a common law divorce?
We have been living together for over 11 years. We live in her house which was purchased before I moved in. There is no prenup agreement. The house and property has increased in value from $500,000 to $1,000,000 since we have been together. She has told me and others that she could not have handle this large property without my help. She would have sold it 11 years ago. I would like to know if I am entitled to any fair dispensation if we decide to end our relationship. She would not have enjoyed the increase in property value $500,000 if I had not been present. I would think $250,000 would be a fair dispensation but I do not know my legal rights here in British Columbia, Canada. Would someone please offer some advice. Thank you.

Common Law Divorce in TX?
We don't have kids but we did file our taxes for the past 2 years. Do we have to go through a common law divorce? We lived together for 3 years
What do I need to do first for Common Law Divorce and Custody and Child Support!? Come on people...thanks!?
Ok. I'll try to keep this as concise as possible but it's a long one. As of 2007 my boyfriend husband further referred to as b h filed our taxes together and started claiming common law marriage. As far as Colorado goes, we're married now. Things are falling apart and he said he doesn't want to be with me anymore. We have a 16 month old son together, and just got a new car for me with the assumption we would still be together to help each otherr pay for the bills. In the past we have broken up and gotten back together, but the relationship has never really been a happy one, and I really don't want my son to see us fighting, so though one part of me thinks we will prob get back together, I think it might be best if we didn't. Now here's where things get hard. Even though I have a decent paying job, after doing calculations I'm not sure I'm going to be able to afford all the bills AND a new place alone with my son I know this might sound stupid but is it mean for me to get child support when he has said he would pay for half of his child care and half of his " bills" . I used a colorado child support calculator and it says he'll owe my son, monthly, more than what he's saying he'll give me. And if things go sour I don't want him to go back on what he says etc, even though " at this point'' he's trustworthy. My next question is what do I do first? and how do i do it? I dont know how to file for divorce or where to go to do it, how much it will cost me. How to get joint legal custody with my son staying with me, and how to get the child support. We are deciding to stay living together until our lease is up in June yeah, lame right? and splitting all the bills but I'm scared if I start talking about child support and custody he might try to get all that before I can figure it out Help. Please give me any advice, any information, comments, anything you can manage. Thank you ahead of time Yeah the thing is he tends to break up with me yearly lol. I would love to work things out, but that needs to change. I'm just worried about making ends meet and surviving this

Common Law Divorce in Tennessee?
I have a question about divorce laws. This is for the state of Tennessee. If two people split up about 15 years ago and don't live together, but never legally divorced, is there any statute that allows for dissolution of the marriage such as common law allows for two people to be legally married after they live together for so long?I understand Tennessee is not a common law marriage state. My question, though, is if there are any similar statutes that would allow a marriage to be dissolved?
