Can I sue my child custody attorney?
I have been fighting for full custody of my son since my ex hurt him and is being procecuted for felony child abuse and neglect. The attorney I retained keeps racking up this huge bill for me that I have no proof that anything has been done. I did all the research on my ex and presented everything to the attorney. To make it worse every time we go to a hearing he does not present the info about my exs crimal charges including those againt him. My ex keeps changing lawyers and postponing his trial date, therefore causing my custody to be extended. The numbers keep going up. When the judge wants to wait for the criminal outcome, my ex postpones it, and my lawyer agrees to set another hearing date for the custody. Then, I tell him I want it settled now, hesays it can be done, and whiule in court he agrees again to extend. He also, eagerly opts to do the new orders, so he can get paid. It has been going on since september, and I dont feel I should have to pay for services I dont feel I receive. My exis the one playing games and causing it to continue. He is in and out of jail for DUIs, is addicted to pills, and my son doesnt even want to be with him. He even told his dad that, but because he is not of age to decide, no one will listen. My ex was ordered to pay less than $100 a month in child support because I made good money. When I stoppeed working to have another child, I did not ask for more, and when he couldnt pay, I worked with him. Now, during this whole process he has been over a month late, given me bad checks, and non valid health ins. Anyone, please help. I am doing the best I can but I dont know where to turn. I dont do drugs, dont drink and drive, dont to anything wrong. I dont even have so much as a speeding ticket, but I am being treated as if I am wrong for wanting my son to be safe from his father. He beat me for years until I had the courage to leave. He didnt want him until I got married, and now it is a game to him.

My sister in law just divorced her husband of 17 years, which they have 2 children with, 13 and 12 years old. They had the picture perfect marriage, owned their own company, and huge house, a nice boat, hummer, Audi, name it, they had it. The company went bankrupt 2 years ago, and their perfect marriage, my sister in law decided to separate. Unknown reasons to be honest. She began working as a manager for Mimi's Cafe from 5 30am to 3 30pm, and required her Mom's my Mother in law help with her kids. They would stay there all week, during school and my Mother in law would take them and pick them up from school, cook for them etc..Everything was going ok, until 2 months after the seperation she moves a man into the house that she was dating, my niece starts hearing them having sexual intercourse new to her, she was raised a strict Christian and many other things, her Mother transforming, etc. The 2 kids decide they dont want to go home anymore with this man there, they wanna stay at Grandma's house. My sister in law and this man get married, after 2 months of meeting, my niece or nephew didnt attend the wedding....Basically long story short, the divorce is final, Dad moved back to Brazil to pursue work at his Father's company, and the kids stayed back in Texas, but want to live with their Grandma. My sister in law is blaming my Mother in law for them not wanting to go home, which is not true, and threatening my Mother in law with restraining orders aganist her, for no reason. My Mother in law cares about the kids, their happiness, and she has nothing to do with the kid's decision to stay there. My question is, what are the laws aganist something like this in Texas? Would a Judge consider hearing the children out on why they decided what they did? And protect them from anymore drama and hurt in the future? If anyone knows about the Child Laws in Texas Hidalgo County Please help, or at least give an idea of what I can tell my Mother in law to protect her, and my niece and nephew.Thanks...and GOD BLESS...Thank you for everyone that have answered. A couple clarifications...the divorce was final with Mom having rights to them..YES. But she depended on my Mother in law to take care of them from Monday through Friday afternoon cause of work. That was done by my Mother in law with love for her daughter and Grandchildren. IT IS NOT MY MOTHER IN LAWS DECISION TO STAY WITH HER, OR KEEP THEM..The kids keep fighting back and forth that they refuse to go back to their Mom's house. I am not going to write here what motives are behind it, but they aren't nice either. My Mother in law is not going to run off and get an attorney to protect the kids cause as far as now, my sister in law is only threatning, hasn't acted. She is blaming her Mom for the kid's wanting to stay there, when it is HER that gave them a reason to not feel comfortable in their own home. I am asking this question, cause my Mother in law has never been through a divorce, married 26 years with 4 children, this is unreal
