I am a single mother of 3 and I am 30. My ex fiance, as of last night, is a father of 2. His girls are teenagers, my kids are 7, 4, and 2. He left because I told him that if his 16 year old was going to live with me then she would talk to me and my children in a respectful manner. That she had no business bossing my children around, I am there mother. And I mean, this girl is very disrespectful, she went up to the jewelry counter after I purposely lost her to buy his engagement ring on fathers day, and asked how much it costed just as an example. She is just rude constantly. Anyhow, I love him, but he left me, but, was I wrong? Also, I said that it is not healthy for her to lock herself up in her room constantly. And I don't think it is. I think he should be a father to her. The girl never smiles. I don't know, was I wrong for demanding that? That she speak to me in a respectful manner? Is that to much to ask?

I recently got involved with a single father who has 2 children from previous marriage. One boy 7 one boy 5 years old.He said he loves me and we get along well been dating for 8 months already .I have a girl 3 years old from previous relationship never got married This guy told me he would prefer to date one on one with no kids. But he always bring his two sons along, and when I bring my daughter, He got upset. He totally ignored my daughter. Finally, I confronted him, he told me honestly " well, I just don't think I can deal with other men's kid." I am furious. I told him " If you cannot accept my daughter, don't expect me to be in the picture." He apologized to me and told me he would do a better job.But I am very discouraged now. Should I give him another chance? or should I call it quits already.

I've seen a lot of questions about single parent dating. Mostly moms dating. A lot of answerers seem to be against single moms dating but I haven't seen many people saying there is an issue with single dad's dating.My parents divorced when I was very young. My dad slept with a 16 year old girl and then with another woman which is his current wife . And yet he never really got frowned upon for marrying and having children quickly. But if my mom had gone on many dates I'm sure people would have said something then. I don't think having children and being single should bar you from love. Children grow up, and you raise them to live in this world without you. I'm not saying I think anyone should dump their kids on someone else when they have them to go on several dates, nor am I saying they should bring random people around their kids. But an occasional night at grandmas can be a good thing for everyone. I believe only I can " own" my life and it is completely my responsibility to make the best decisions ownership would constitute that he is taking control of it. I make a conscious effort to always put my son first of course, but would that mean if I were single I couldn't do anything ever? I have a question about single parent dating....?
I have been seeing a guy for over a year now, and felt for much of the time that we were naturally progressing. We are both responsible and somewhat busy single parents. I am kid free about 1 night a week and he has his son part time faithfully. Our kids get along pretty well and there aren't many problems in this area, but I'm starting to think it's a little strange that we only see each other about once a week. And sadly, I'm starting to realize, that most of the time it's my night free that I go and spend with him. He does come over occasionally, but rarely stays. Is this unusual, or am I overreacting?

I'm new to being a single mom dating. How do you handle it? I don't get much time to myself. I actually have a boyfriend but we both have kids and don't get to see each other much. My kids are both under 4 and his are 12 and 14...We rarely get to spend time as a couple. As a couple its great but as a family I feel awkward. I have two little kids that still require care and attention and his are older. I get so exhausted and he doesn't help out. I begin to dread his visits if I have the kids because it is so tiring. Is this how it is? Am I missing something? How do other single parents handle dating?His both children love our time together. I just am so exhuasted by the end of a visit it takes a day to get energy back.I feel a bit like he is putting up a front around me.
